Technical Graduate
James is currently working at Dunbia in the Food Safety & Quality Department as part of our Brighter Futures Graduate Programme. He first joined Dunbia Llanybydder in 2014 as a summer job in between his studies and we had a chat with him to find out what made him keep coming back!
How would you describe your experience on the graduate experience at Dunbia?
I started working in Dunbia as a summer job down in the lairage. Since then, every summer I have come back to work in Technical as a Quality Assurance Officer and this year I was offered to do the Food Safety & Quality Graduate Programme and thought it was a great opportunity to progress my career.

After studying in Cardiff University for 3 years, I like many students, was confused over what I wanted to do in the future. I saw the Dunbia Graduate Programme as an excellent opportunity to progress my career in an industry which I’ve always found interesting
What’s it like working in the Food Safety & Quality Department?
Working in Technical is both challenging and rewarding. Our main priority is to ensure all products that go to our customers are safe and of a high standard. It’s a good challenge to meet and maintain those high standards.

There’s never a dull moment working for Dunbia. There are always new challenges being put in front of you. There’s a great working environment with friendly members of staff. Every day is a new day to learn something new.
What advice would you give to current graduates looking to apply?
Go for it! Get stuck in, be open, be flexible, be ready to learn. It’s a fast-paced environment and the more you’re willing to give, the more you’ll get out of it.
