Seven trainees have graduated through Dunbia’s Butchery Academy and are now skilled butchers holding externally recognised and verified Proficiency Based Qualifications.
The achievements of the six men and 1 woman was recognised at a recent presentation ceremony where Dunbia Brand Ambassador, Rory Best presented the awards.
Congratulating the trainees, Rory commented: “I have worked with Dunbia for a couple of years and they are an excellent company to work with. The Butchery Academy is an excellent programme and instils many of the qualities which I take onto the rugby pitch into their trainees – qualities such as determination, hard work, commitment and the will to succeed. The seven successful trainees have all shown these qualities which is reflected in their success in the Butchery Academy. This is the start of their careers and I wish them every success for the future.”
The trainees completed the award-winning Butchery Academy following a twelve month tailored programme which combined class-room based learning with on the job training and mentoring. They are now all full-time employees at Dunbia Dungannon and Ballymena.
Steve Beck, HR Director, Dunbia also congratulated the trainees: “The calibre of trainees coming through our Butchery Academy is excellent. It has taken the age-old craft of butchery, revitalised it with modern day training techniques and processes and created real opportunities for individuals looking for a long-term, progressive career path.”
