Dunbia has won gold in the 37th Quality Food Awards for a Lamb Christmas Centre Piece which it developed for ASDA’s Extra Special Christmas Range.
The Extra Special Lamb Guard of Honour with a Redcurrant & Mint Butter, which was produced exclusively for ASDA as an alternative to the traditional Christmas fayre, won over the Quality Food Awards judges at a gala evening held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 10th November.
Speaking at the Awards Dinner, Andrew Brondon, Dunbia’s Head Development Chef commented: “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of Dunbia’s New Product Development Team and ASDA. Dunbia’s approach to NPD has always been to work in partnership with our retailers to create new, innovative offerings which will appeal to the consumer. We are exceptionally proud of ASDA’s Extra Special Lamb Guard of Honour and hope that ASDA customers will enjoy this unique seasonal product.”
The product is created from Welsh sourced lamb and hand cut by Dunbia’s expert butcher.
“The key to the success of our Lamb Guard of Honour is in the Welsh lamb which produces the most succulent flavours and Dunbia’s expert butchery skills to produce a stunning dinner table centerpiece,” explains Gavin Thompson, ASDA Fresh Meat Buying Manager. “ASDA and Dunbia are committed to producing top quality products for our consumers and we are delighted that our hard work has been recognized by the Quality Food Awards.”
Dunbia recently invested over £500,000 in its New Product Development department as explained by Head of New Product Development, Michael McWhinney: “New Product Development is at the heart of Dunbia’s operation where we strive to push innovation to create new product concepts for our customers. Our success at the Quality Food Awards reaffirms our investment and our expertise in NPD.”
