Jack Dobson, Dunbia Executive Director has welcomed the Taiwanese Ambassador to UK, Dr Liu Chih-Kung to its factory in Ballymena.
The Ambassador was part of a Trade Mission led by Invest NI and North Antrim MP Ian Paisley aimed at establishing and developing export relationships with the Asian market.
Dr Liu Chih-Kung enjoyed a tour of the Ballymena facility during which Mr Dobson commented, “As one of the largest meat processors in the UK and a leading player in Northern Ireland’s Agri-Food industry, we are delighted to welcome the Taiwanese delegation to Dunbia to show-case what Dunbia and the wider Northern Ireland agri-food industry has to offer.
Export markets are key to the future of our agri-food industry and Dunbia has been working hard to open new markets particularly in Asia. The visit by the Taiwanese Ambassador to UK is another step in exploring new opportunities in this important marketplace.”
During the visit Mr Ian Paisley commented: “The importance of the agri-food industry to the Northern Ireland economy cannot be overstated and it was therefore vital that I was able to highlight this industry and its export opportunities to this important Taiwanese delegation. As one of the leading players in our agri-food industry, Dunbia presented a comprehensive overview of the opportunities within the red meat sector. This visit is the starting point for the development of strong relationships with the Taiwanese market and I look forward to seeing them grow in the future.”
The Taiwanese delegation also included Jyh-Haw Hsieh, Taiwan’s Assistant Director of Economic Affairs and Joseph Wu, Manager of Taiwan’s Trade Centre.
