DOUBLE WIN FOR DUNBIA AT MEAT MANAGEMENT AWARDS 2018

Dunbia was delighted to accept the awards for ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ and ‘Young Manager of the Year’ at this year’s Meat Management Industry Awards which took place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Thursday 24th May 2018.

Dunbia was delighted to accept the awards for ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ and ‘Young Manager of the Year’ at this year’s Meat Management Industry Awards which took place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Thursday 24th May 2018.

As one of the highlights of the meat industry calendar, the annual Meat Management Industry Awards sets a benchmark for recognising excellence throughout the meat industry.

Young Manager of the Year Award

Holly Miles, HR Manager at Dunbia Treburley has been named ‘Young Manager of the Year’ at this year’s Meat Management Industry Awards.

Having grown up in the industry as part of the Jaspers family business, Holly became the Site Human Resources Manager at Treburley in 2011. Holly has an overall appreciation and understanding of primary processing and boning as well as a detailed knowledge of health and safety and environmental matters. Since Holly has focused on the HR function the business has expanded and her role has grown significantly.

Helen Rees, Group HR Director, Dunbia said: “A key member of the site management team, her pragmatic approach and in-depth knowledge of both the industry and the employment arena makes Holly an invaluable asset to the company and making her the ideal candidate for the Young Manager of the Year”.

To be considered for the award Meat Management were looking for candidates under the age of 34 with initiative, someone to watch for in the future and someone who is looking at the industry as a whole, not just within their specific job role and the day to day running of the business or department.

As part of the award process, Holly was interviewed by a panel of 5 industry professionals. The interview process involved taking a dive into her history within the industry, her ambitions and where she sees herself in 5-10 years. Holly also had to provide her views on the meat industry, what she sees for the future of the industry, the challenges it faces and how these challenges may be tackled.

Also commenting on Holly’s award, Ken Hallahan, Dunbia Operations Director, said: “Holly is a superb example of the progression that may be achieved through our business and this is due to her hard work, dedication and control combined with a real working knowledge of the industry. Holly has successfully made the transition from a junior role in a family business to a professional management role in a corporate entity with relative ease. This award is industry recognition for the fantastic job she is doing here in driving our business and employee relations forward”.
