Dunbia Brand Ambassador, Rory Best enlisted the help of two Ulster and Ireland team-mates to teach young rugby enthusiasts some tricks of the rugby trade.
Paddy Wallace and Stuart Olding joined the Ulster captain at Dungannon Rugby Club for the Dunbia organised event. Forty-two sons and daughters of Dunbia suppliers were put through training drills, ball-handling coaching and enjoyed a kicking display from Paddy and Rory.
“Rory Best is a brand ambassador for Dunbia and has worked on a number of agricultural initiatives with us over the past 18 months,” explains David Chestnutt, Livestock Procurement Manager. “The skills day is an opportunity to give our suppliers children the chance of a life time to have coaching experience from international rugby stars like Rory, Paddy and Stuart.”
The skills sessions with Rory Best were auctioned at the Dunbia Farmers Ball which was held in January. Over £26,000 was raised at the Ball for NI Chest Heart & Stroke.
“The Dunbia rugby skills session was fantastic,” adds Rory. “Working with youngsters from farming backgrounds who have such enthusiasm for rugby was like working with my younger self! I hope that I have instilled some tips and skills in them which they can use in both the rugby and agricultural fields! It is also a double bonus that a great charity like NICHS has benefited from my partnership with Dunbia.”
