Dunbia’s Agriculture and R&D Project Team Leader, Matthew Rollason, successfully joined the NFU’s second Student & Young Farmer Ambassador Programme in 2020. At a crucial time for the livestock sector, the programme brings together groups of young, ambitious farmers who are working with the NFU to represent the next generation of British farmers, both within industry and with the wider community.
As restrictions are starting to ease and with support from Dunbia, Matthew was recently able to visit the NFU’s first Covid-19-secure event; the Allerton Project. The day entailed a practical and in person field walk, learning about innovative and regenerative agriculture techniques.
Matthew said: “After such a long period of reduced social interaction, being able to meet my fellow ambassadors in person and get together to discuss and debate ideas was great. Events like this are fundamental for us to carve a path to an even more sustainable future in British agriculture.”
He added: “UK farming faces a turbulent time ahead but having the opportunity to learn and engage with others who have such a passion for our industry, always gives me confidence that we are well prepared for whatever challenges may come our way”.
