Lairage Senior Supervisor

Description

A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Supervisor working in the Lairage. The successful candidate will be responsible for the co-ordination of the intake of animals to the factory, controlling all documentation and managing Lairage Operatives, whilst ensuring Animal Welfare Standards are met.

The Role
  • Ensuring Lairage targets are met within deadlines, without compromising quality or control of costs.
  • Ensuring that animals are unloaded on arrival at the site, adhering to training and policy at all times.
  • Ensuring livestock intake numbers are correct and that that all appropriate intake paperwork is completed.
  • Monitoring all livestock for animal welfare issues and taking action if required.
  • Ensuring the animals are provided with sufficient feed and water.
  • Ensuring the general cleanliness and tidiness of the Lairage is maintained.
  • Involvement in departmental audits such as Animal Welfare and Animal Transportation.
  • Ensuring that Quality, Health & Safety and other Company policies are adhered to and liaising with relevant departments to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Supervision of staff as the Senior in the Department, to include approval of holidays and conducting return to work interviews.
  • Writing and reviewing SOPs and Risk Assessments.
The Person
  • Self-Motivated.
  • Attention to detail essential with an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good Organisational & Leadership skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience of working with livestock is essential.
  • The ability to work within a team but also with their own initiative.
  • Computer literacy essential.
  • Will be committed to working within the Company Mission, Vision and Values.
