Engineering Team Manager


Reporting to the Engineering Manager, a vacancy has arisen for an Engineering Team Manager responsible for the day to day management of the team, including responsibility for their training, development, time and attendance and performance management. 

The Role:
  • Team duties such as line management for the engineers, conducting team meetings, tool box talks, coaching & mentoring & skills matrix
  • Support with recruitment for the engineering team
  • Write, review and update engineering SOPs & risk assessments
  • Liaising with department heads to ensure that adequate staff cover and skill base is available to meet production requirements
  • Root cause analysis
  • Planned preventative maintenance reviews
  • KPIs and performance reporting
  • Monitoring downtime and establishing improvement plans
  • Contractor control
  • Daily pre-op reports
  • Converse with suppliers & contractors
  • Drive of Health & Safety practices
  • Conducting monthly audits & efficient close out of non-conformances
  • Deputise for Engineering Manager


  • Qualified engineer in either electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Experience of managing a team essential, along with strong leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to plan workloads effectively to meet deadlines
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate & develop a team of engineers
  • Attention to detail, commitment and the ability to accept responsibility are key in this role
  • Good IT skills, including experience of approving hours on payroll systems
  • Understanding of commercial priorities and cost control
  • Will be committed to working within the company mission, vision & values
