Business Analyst (Factory Systems)


We currently require a Business Analyst to provide support for a number of application systems which are in widespread use across the group. The successful candidate will become a key member of the Group Application Support Team supporting end users and service desks with incident and service requests alike. 

  • Reporting directly to the Service Delivery Manager you will be responsible for the support and development of key operational systems across multiple sites within the Group.
  • Develop a sound knowledge of assigned systems and understand the impact of any agreed changes.
  • Document workflows, results of business analysis and obtain sign-off from business on the specifications.
  • You will use the company’s change management process and perform all necessary technical and change management duties needed to ensure the ongoing operation of key operational systems.
  • Provide the link between the business, development team and any third-party regarding software functionality, throughout the change lifecycle.
  • Design and execute test scenarios and test scripts.
  • Provide end user training on systems being implemented.
  • Day-to-day management of allocated change requests in relation to the project plans to ensure agreed deadlines are met.
  • Support the project teams during implementations of projects and high-level changes.
The person

The post holder must be able to work successfully on their own initiative and work well as part of a team. They will be able to demonstrate an ability to develop logical solutions in complex business environments and possess the ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to changing business needs.  Good problem-solving skills are also required. 

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in a business analysis role OR more extensive experience in a systems implementation role.
  • Experience of the full systems delivery lifecycle, preferably using traditional (waterfall) or agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience of directly interacting with end users at various levels within an organisation.
  • Experience of working to deliver changes/work packages which meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrable evidence of analysing and documenting business processes.
  • A proven track record in software testing and end user training.
  • A willingness and ability to travel to various sites throughout the Group.


Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of systems and processes within the manufacturing industry (ideally food processing).
  • Prior experience of using formal methodologies for business analysis.
  • Previous experience with implementing manufacturing execution systems such as Hellenic or Emydex.
  • ITIL Certification.
  • Experience with SSMS.


All candidates must be flexible and prepared to work additional hours when required to meet demand. This role will be based at Preston and will require travel to our sites throughout the UK and Ireland.
