Brothers Jim and Jack Dobson established Dungannon Meats, a premium butchers shop in Moygashel, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

1983

Strong entrepreneurial vision sees the business expand as new slaughter and boning facilities are opened in Dungannon, Northern Ireland.

Business thrives and a new boning hall is constructed at Dungannon.

1990
1993

A new retail packing facility is built in Dungannon to compliment the existing primary operations on the site.

Acquired Rose County Foods, Clitheroe, Lancashire.

2001

Acquired Excel Meats & Newgrange Meats, Republic of Ireland. Acquired Oriel Jones & Sons, Llanybydder, Wales.

Acquired new boning facility at Kilbeggan, Republic of Ireland.

2006

Dungannon Meats, as a company name, no longer reflects the national reach of the business. The group rebrands to Dunbia throughout the UK and Ireland.

Acquired Kepak, Preston. Acquired Rhinds of Elgin, Scotland.

2007
2008

Launched Lamb Initiative in partnership with Wales YFC and Sainsburys to secure a field to fork supply chain which supports young farmers.

Acquired Stevenson’s & Co. pork facility, Ballymena, Northern Ireland. Launched The Butchery Academy, to develop and nurture young talent in the age old craft of butchery and de-boning.

2009
2010

Extended the Preston facility with a purpose built sausage factory.

Opened new state of the art redevelopment at Llanybydder. Opened retail packing facilities at Felinfach, Wales. Located only 10 miles from the primary operations facility at Llanybydder.

2013
2014

Acquired Lynch Quality Meats, Ayr, Scotland, a multi-species retail packing facility.

A strategic partnership between Dawn Meats and Dunbia to established a joint venture in the UK comprising the UK operations of both organisations. Dunbia now comprises of 12 sites strategically located across the UK.

2017
2018

Dunbia cement their focus on sustainability and pledge their commitment through becoming founding members of The UK Plastics Pact. The Brighter Futures graduate programme is relaunched with a fresh new look for 2018.
